These days walking around our neighborhood has been a way to entertain ourselves. Adventures around our neighborhood so far have been fun with beautiful views. The reason Andy and I started this blog was to make sure people go outside and explore your neighborhood, state, country or world. However, because of the COVID-19 we have now been told to stay home. We understand that during these hard times it makes plenty of people have anxiety, depression and feel lonely. We want to make sure we are able to help you during these times. Remember you are not alone and there are plenty of people going through these tough times. This weekend we walked around our neighborhood and we had a pleasant time exploring our neighborhood.
Walking around our neighborhood has been very therapeutic for us and has helped us maintain our sanity. The walks we take let us get to know our neighborhood and what is around us. When taking these walks make sure to keep your 6 feet distance between people.
Our neighborhood has some beautiful flowers due to the rain we keep getting. I (Jackie) love going to adventures and finding flowers, especially unique ones. Flowers always put me in a good mood and motivate me during a tough day. When you’re walking around make sure to stop and smell the flowers and enjoy how beautiful they look.
The weather has been good and bad, at days sunny, cloudy or raining. If you are able to go outside and the sun is shinning make sure to enjoy it. When it is sunny outside, Andy and I go for our walks and we enjoy the sun shining on us. We do not take it for granted. Warm sunny days always put a smile on our faces since we are usually inside the house for the reminder of the day.
When walking around our neighborhood we see plenty of butterflies, hummingbirds, squirrels, rabbits and birds. Being able to see butterflies and hummingbirds are always a great day. Pay attention to the animals that you see around your neighborhood. When walking around we have even ran into rabbits. We definitely do not recommend you getting close to the animals, make sure to respect their space. Admire the animals from far away and try not to get too close.
Being able to walk around allows you to get to know your neighborhood. We are always busy rushing and driving around our neighborhood that we never get the time to just admire it. We have found paths to enjoy while exploring our neighborhood, once we never knew existed. Santa Clarita is known for having so many paths to walk on and this is why we love this city.
Relax and let go when walking around your neighborhood. Whatever is stressing you out or making you feel at easy make sure to just put it in the back of your head and enjoy the walk. There is so much to stress about during these times and we completely understand that it may not be easy to just relax and let go. However, stressing yourself is not the answer, because it may lead you to other problems. When walking around make it your time and time where you can just breathe and forget about the problems.
Listening to music while walking around can be fun and will help you get motivated to walk. Music always moves people and puts them in a happy mood. Listen to some of your favorite tunes and just enjoy the scenery around your neighborhood.
While Andy and I are walking we enjoy the conversations we have with one another. Make sure if you are walking with a spouse, partner or child that you enjoy your conversations and take time to talk about what is new in life. There is plenty to talk about especially when we are not so concentrated on your phones.
Keeping a distance between people you see around your neighborhood is important. Usually this doesn’t matter, however since we have been instructed to stay at least 6 feet away people we recommend this while walking. When we are walking we usually go behind cars to allow people to pass us or we cross the street to avoid people. It is kind of weird to walkaway from your neighbors, however it seems like we all have the same understanding sine we just smile and node at each other.
Andy and I have had a hard time adjusting to this norm, it isn’t easy so if you feel like your having a hard time adjusting you are not alone. It isn’t a fun situation and we hope that the line finally flattens and we beat the curve. It will get better as long as we all do our part. Make sure when you go out for a walk that you do not socialize with neighbors or spend hours outside. Usually when Andy and I go walking outside we enjoy the day, our time together, the scenery, being able to breathe fresh air and then we head home. We hope you enjoy your walks around your neighborhood. Stay safe and we will see you next week.
